This page explains what happens to the information you send us through this website. It is written in plain English on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it properly.
The short version
- We collect what you type into our contact form, plus your email address if you subscribe to our newsletter.
- We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read.
- We do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to advertisers. Ever.
- Email us and we will delete everything we hold about you, or unsubscribe in one click.
01. Who we are
Ranking Dynamics, trading as Ranking Dynamics, operates this website at rankingdynamics.com. We are a local SEO agency working with home service businesses.
For anything to do with your data, contact Arbab Sadiq at [email protected].
02. What we collect
What you give us. When you fill in the contact form on this site, we receive:
- Your name and business name
- Your website address and primary city
- Your trade
- Your email address, and your phone number if you choose to give it
- What you told us matters most, which plan interests you, and anything you wrote in the message field
The phone number and message fields are optional. Everything else is needed for us to reply usefully.
If you subscribe to our newsletter. We receive your email address, and nothing else. You choose to give it, and you can take it back at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email we send.
What is collected automatically. Like almost every website, our hosting keeps server logs containing your IP address, browser type and the pages you visited. These are kept for security and troubleshooting, not for building a profile of you.
We also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It records things like which pages were viewed, roughly where in the world the visitor was, and what device they used. It does not tell us who you are, and we have no way to connect it to your name.
03. Why we use it
We use what you send us for three things, and nothing else:
- To reply to you. That is the whole point of the form.
- To review your business before replying. We look at your website and your public Google Business Profile so the reply is useful rather than generic. We only ever look at information that is already public.
- To keep a record of the enquiry in case you come back to us later.
If you are in the UK or EU, our lawful basis for this is legitimate interest in responding to a business enquiry you started. You can object at any time and we will stop.
Filling in the contact form does not subscribe you to anything. The newsletter is a separate box you have to tick or a separate field you have to fill in yourself.
The newsletter. If you subscribe, we use your email address to send local SEO tips and occasional updates about what we do. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by subscribing and withdraw by clicking unsubscribe. Every email we send carries that link and our postal address. We will never add you to it because you filled in the contact form, bought something, or appeared on a list we found somewhere.
Analytics. We use the Google Analytics data to see which pages people actually read and where the site confuses them, so we can improve it. In the UK and EU, analytics cookies are only set after you accept them.
04. Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site uses two kinds.
Strictly necessary cookies. WordPress and Elementor set a few cookies the site needs to work, for example remembering your session if you log in, or remembering your cookie choice. These are always on because without them the site does not function.
Analytics cookies. Google Analytics 4 sets cookies that count visits and show us which pages get read. If you are in the UK or EU, these are not set until you accept them in the banner. If you decline, or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set and we simply do not see your visit.
You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link, or by clearing cookies in your browser. You can also install Google’s opt-out add-on to block Analytics on every site you visit.
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site trackers. Nothing on this site follows you around the internet afterwards.
05. Who else sees your information
We keep the list of third parties deliberately short.
- Our web host stores this website and its server logs.
- Our email provider receives and stores the messages sent through the contact form, because that is how they reach us.
- Our form delivery service passes submissions from the website to our inbox.
- Google Analytics receives anonymous usage data about how the site is used, if you accepted analytics cookies. Google processes this on servers that may be outside your country.
- In NEWSLETTER we stores your email address and sends the newsletter, if you subscribed.
Fonts and images on this site are hosted on our own server, so loading a page does not send your IP address to Google or any other third party.
We never sell, rent or trade your information. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers or lead resellers.
06. How long we keep it
Contact form enquiries are kept for 24 months from your last message to us, then deleted. If you become a client, we keep records for as long as we work together plus the period our accountants and tax authorities require.
Newsletter subscribers are kept until you unsubscribe. When you do, your address is removed from the sending list and kept only on a short suppression list, so we cannot accidentally add you again.
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months and then deleted automatically.
Server logs are kept for a short period by our host and then rotated out.
You can ask us to delete everything sooner. See the next section.
07. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what we hold about you
- Give you a copy of it
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete it
- Stop using it
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter, which you can also do yourself with the link at the bottom of every email
Email [email protected] and we will action it within 30 days. There is no charge and you do not need to give a reason.
If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to data portability and the right to complain to your national data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office.
If you are in California, you have the right to know what we collect and to ask us to delete it, and the right not to be discriminated against for asking. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
08. Where your information goes
We operate internationally, so information you send may be stored or processed outside the country you live in, including outside the UK, EU and United States.
Wherever it is held, we apply the same standards described on this page.
09. Security
This site runs over HTTPS, so what you type into the form is encrypted in transit. Access to enquiries is limited to people who need it, which today means one person.
No website can promise perfect security. If we ever have a breach affecting your information, we will tell you and the relevant authority as quickly as we can.
10. Children
This site is for business owners. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. For anything significant, we will contact people whose information we already hold.
12. Contact us
Questions about anything on this page go to Arbab Sadiq, who wrote it and who answers the emails.
